Re: Bat Lure
2 Vibro Sonic Bat lures, top one is metal, bottom is plastic.
Going by the fonts and printing style, the Fresco paper is obviously newer, begging the question... Did Fresco buy the rights or takeover S & M Man. or did the design fall into dis-use and Fresco resurrected it at a much later date.....
Brad
2 versions of instructions, 1 marked S. & M. Manufacturing of Carrum Downs who we have come to know as the original makers.
the other marked Fresco Lures of Dandenong
for those who have followed the Fresco lures in these boards, would be more familiar with their metal spinner, spoons and Devon types.Going by the fonts and printing style, the Fresco paper is obviously newer, begging the question... Re: Bat Lure
Interesting stuff Brad.
So Fresco had a Vibro Sonic (M) and a Vibro Sonic (P)
Wish the bottom part of my Vibra-Sonic display card was still there to
possibly see who the maker for it was (at this stage I would still think Fresco?)
Cheers,Jim

Re: Bat Lure
Hi Jim,
the Fresco paperwork is almost word for word the same as the S & M paperwork apart from S & M's offer of free lures for pictures of fish caught on Vibro Bat's in 1971.
This leads me to think that Fresco took over production at a later date than 1971, and the Fresco paperwork looks almost computer generated, where as the S & M is obviously done on a typewriter and probably roneo copied.
I agree that your header looks like it maybe from Fresco era. The graphics look more modern than generally seen in the early 70's
Cheers Brad

Re: Bat Lure
I wonder if the company had an agreement with Harrison-Hoge to make them
Here's an advert that was common in publications in the early 1960's

Re: Bat Lure
I don't think anyone was worried about possible Yank,Pommy or German patents in those days as we have dozens of unashamed rip-offs of overseas lures.
Bellbrook copied Heddon and L&S Mirrolure.
DK copied a D.A.M. (Germany) lure with the King Codder plus most of their large range were copies of overseas or even other Aussie lures.
The Japs were even more blatant at it than we were.
Cheers,Jim
