Albert, I do agree with the quality issues, they were made in China, like so many mass retail rods these days.
However back then there may have been a bit of quality, we put one up against an original aussie made one, ran line through both and set them up at the same angle and same weight. The working curve was similar and the action when cast was identical...well as identical as casting a semi solid noodle can be
I'd say that cost cutting and changing makers has led to a depreciation of the action. Not really my cup of tea even back then, If I wanted a long rod, I used to source a fly rod blank and set it up myself

..... @ 49 1/4 I am considered nearly a fossil according to my young fellas 
and as for Spumante.....I knew a bloke that owned a small winery in Stanthorpe..he had a lovely Spumante, came in Magnum bottles only
used to score one every trip as part payment for a crush.....gawd what a mess I was after those weekends
