I have thought about it but haven't tried it yet, you can buy the plastic kits on the net to do it i think.

Yeah I ordered one, so I was curious

There are some things I wanted to change on a favourite and this was one way to do it

I thought making your own rods and tying your own flies was creative but this looks really interesting!

I'm also doing the whole molding master copies of the lure and making molds to run 3-5 at a time

well the first ones have been done
I'll post pics in the next day or so

so very very easy
as a longer time lure maker and (i like to think) accomplished fly tyer
i cannot believe how easy it is

having done this you will wonder how they can charge so much for such simple things
even the complex laminated weighted scented ones cost a max of 25-30c each
not to mention they only take 10 minutes to learn the process and produce professional results!!!

(yeah i know marketing,testing,packaging etc - but still!)
seriously anyone looking for a business opportunity down under could do worse than start a mail order business for the makings and fixings for DIY SPs

did some more last night, will post pics

made a mold using RTV silicone of an ILLIBIN luggrub
so now I have a collection of several different coloured "custom" luggrub

and several custom coloured (and flavoured - mmm anise and crab) snailstops

colours:
transparent fl yellow
opaque fl yellow
sweet potato/mango
glow in the dark
silver pearl
camo green
and my version of megabass's SK (spook killer) - which they do not offer in SPs only HBs

will take some pics and post them

next efforts
- making a shad body of my own design for pike and sea bass - whihc I will call ILLIBIN smoothnoses
- replicating x-layers (I want certain custom colours that megabass don't offer) - which i will call ILLIBIN whyhens
- replicating squidgies (can't buy them here, my supplies are getting low, no-one in oz seems to post overseas, plus there are a couple of improvements and custom colours I want) which I will call ILLIBIN scrumpys
