Dave & Brad,
Saw those lures by Rob Payne from Ballina, at the time thought it could be Leanne Paynes husband, isn't his name Rob?
Thought thay hailed from Qld. though, maybe they lived in Ballina earlier, bloke selling mentioned he'd had them about 15yrs.
Nice mystery, sure you'll work it out Brad.
Regards, Tony (Wulagi, NT).

Tony,
you are right, Leeane's hubby is a Robert, so you may have something there.
I haven't spoken to Leeane for yonks, used to run into her all over the place, but I do know people who can get me in contact...will try your suggestion.

Cheers Brad

Brad:
Reference the Moller Lures entry in the database, I just found an article by Vic McCristal stating that Eric Moller "made those lures right up to his death in 1981, even though he knew his failing eyesight might mean minor problems of alignment". ("Australian Lure Fisherman"; a 'Modern fishing' publication, undated c. ~1990)

Guess this puts a definitive date to what may be regarded as 'the end of the beginning' of the Aussie timber-lure cottage industry.

Tony/Marrakai,
wonderful addition to the info bank mate. I wish I had enough free time to read all those old mags myself, only get around to it during holidays (a week coming up soon yay ).
will add it into the database now.

I am hoping to have Mully repost an updated database in early July whilst I am on the break.

Cheers Brad

Marrakai / Brad,
Very interesting info. on Eric Moller, if he was still making in 1981 and he started I think in late 60's. Makes it about 15yrs. of turning out classics.
I'm very fortunate to have two, one in white beech the other red cedar. Both in his 4.5" tiger shape, would love to have one of his chopbone styles.
Maybe can do a swap one day, if someone here has two chopbones, never know your luck.
Regards, Tony (Wulagi, NT).
