@ Tyenna Dave

.............next time you should pre-cut your blanks to more accurate dimensions , ...won't have to carve off too many wood chips then wwnk lol !

...................just kidding , mate bowsmilie , .........a very nice bunch of lures you've made there thumbsupsmilie , ......they'd surely produce for you once you'd get them wet .

I'm particular fond of the two deeprunners at bottom , ....great job thumbsupsmilie !

Thanx Dieter !
I do try to get the size of the timber right but i do split the wood with an axe so accuracy is not my strong suit crazysmilie
I too like the divers the most and can't wait to run the Tequila Sunrise .
The KBPine unit may get put on the shelf as an ornament thumbsupsmilie
I may catch one fish on him first though ???

Here is a quick report from today using our home made lures thumbsupsmilie

The Flash called last night says ,"comin fishin" ?
I said "i'm busy" ,he said "what,busy comin fishin" ? ?
I then of course caved in and said "see you at 9:30am sharp at destination X" !
This place, said spot X provided some great fun on light (6lb is light for me : ) gear with the typical ballistic rainbow peeling off the line .
Most of the better fish were actually lost along with two of Flash's favourite lures .
I luckily only pulled hooks on my losses
Still we landed a few and squeezed in a barby on the banks .

My first dabble in editing a pic :D

The only Brown for the day on my 55mm rainbow ...

Flash may have a pic or two ,perhaps of a visitor slithering up a log for a sunbathe ....................

@ Tyenna Dave

Dave , .........the single ice shells are scattered around , because at this portion of the river there is a usual tide lift of around 3 metres , ...the North Sea is only at about 100 kms away , ........this is why the river can never ice up entirely there , ......at least not save enough to walk over .

Just a few kilometres upstream from where the picture was shot they've built a dam during the mid 1970's , so no more tide lifts beyond that spot , ......that portion of the river can be crossed on foot , if winters are hard and long enough .

Heard on the radio yesterday , that any shipping has been already stopped , ...too dangerous , the river freight boats could get stuck or even get damaged and sink .

@ Mully

..........there are special hand-operated ice drills for ice anglers around(one might use axes or chainsaws as well , if one doesn't mind to spook the fish lol ) , these create nice holes of about 15cm dia , ......big enough to pull out some perch from underneath the ice , .........but if you should get a big pike on , .....you're gonna be in mess lol !
