I think you've just given me some more work.I have a complete run of Outdoors from 1948 to 1970

which I have never checked out thoroughly (except looking for Bellbrook ads thinking there would not be any other

lure stuff) Will look for any more articles by Vic.

I scanned the whole article at work but forgot to bring it home, will toss it up next week.
...and yes, there's plenty of marvellous stuff in those old mags!

Mully: not sure what you mean about conflicting views and legal-size barra.
Nothing in that web-article you linked about McSea catching barra that I could see. Who actually wrote it anyway?

OK, here is the entire article "Kimberley's Barramundi" by Vic McCristal, in which he describes catching his first ever barra (legal or otherwise!)

Great stuff Marrakai, one thing stood out, Vic's mate Clive kicked his but!
I'm proud to say I've something in common with Vic, my first barra was also a 5lber, (but don't tell anyone here)
mine was on a live mullet at the Howard R. rock-bar. lol
