Oldman some are not privy to background info as you are im for certain no expert or ever claimed to be...I do not know of raw lures i do not know of undercoated lures but if in fact they have been botched up then maybe whatever info you have should be reported as false advertising to the appropriate authorities they will investigate and take legal litigation if required for those who may have been ripped off.
I wouldnt be harpy if i bought a repainted and hand signed lures [by some one else] that were only in fact an original blank and nothing more, this is not on...

ive misread this a few times and also tried to keep quiet as im no expert sorry but if oldman is right then im behind him.

My little bit..Its like saying, would you buy a Rolls Royce that was manufacturered 100% by Rolls Royce , or one that was finished by Mr X for the same money? Would Mr X's Rolls still be worth as much as the one fully built by Rolls Royce ?,and can Mr X place a Rolls Royce badge on his vehicle and still call it a Rolls Royce ? I DONT THINK SO. nope cpthw

OKAY GUYS!!!
before we form the lynch party and find a rope...
Theres is MORE to this story that will be told at a suitable time... but the facts are>>>

The lures ARE genuine products of Peters hands
The lures ARE from Peters workshop
The people involved ARE close to Peter and his family
The rumours and supposition HAVE affected Peters family and friends

Bid as you see fit, and save the judgements for a later time

muhmuh trying to add a bit of humour mate as it was getting a bit flustered
none the less
I'm with Laurie, if it wasn't finished by Peter, it shouldn't be sold as an authentic Peter Newell lure

Barra King,
what you say is true to a point, but in the case of Peter's lures, does it make a difference if John Bennett, Trevor McFeeters, Rob Gaden, Jamie Flett, Brett Campbell, John Gower or Tubs Gainey did some of the finishing work???
I hope not otherwise some people around will think less of thier treasured Newell collections. I think more emphasis could be placed on Peters fostering of some of this country's better lure artisians than just focussing on the fact that Peter Newell made this lure or that lure. Peters true legacy lives on in his proteges and the lures they themselves produce.

Brad
It is unfortunate that the person(s) involved dont think the same way as you..
If they did ,they may have told the full story from the start..
Laurie.

Brad,
Sorry Brad, but in my books it makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE AND ALL THE DIFFERENCE on a product that was finished by an outsider.
Im also very sorry to say but in my opinion, those lures no longer have value in any shape or form !!
