I still remember the day I went into a K Mart and they had mistakenly marked a couple of colours of Mann's Stretch 5+ for 75 cents each.

Picked up the lot and went to the checkout of the most dolled up girl there (in case someone worked out it was a computer error). When she asked what they were for I told her Christmas decorations!!

Ahhhh - the hooks would be useful for that then!! lol lol lol lol lol

rivermandave,
There were a bunch of models that came downunder with no markings on them, the depth + series and a couple of other 'plug' style had model # or name embossed on them, but a few didn't as well as some more minnow shaped models that were used for our Barramundi market. Once you threw the packet away ypou were stuffed lol and you refer to it as that Elton John manns there in the second level middle slot of the tackle box lol

Your 5+ 2nd from top in the right column is my all time favourite
from memory that was a limited Australian only colour - oz shad , oz herring or something similar?

wish they still made it ...

Starting on this webpage here you will see a Mann's 1997 then a 1999 catalog that was scanned and uploaded for ID purposes...

And here's an early catalog from between '70-'72....before they started making plugs and such...

In the early 90's Manns were one of "the" barra lures in deeper rivers I remember a few trips I did to the Victoria River where we predominantly used them.

From the 10+ through to the 20+.

The Elton John colour schme was fairly popular.

Still got some 12+ and 20+ in packets from that era as well as the ones that got used.

This pic I posted previously is a chrome 20+ parting company with a barramundi. One of the guys in the boat was on his first trip and was getting a fish a pass on one trolling run and I hadn't had a touch so the air turned a darker shade of blue, probably commencing as this photo was taken.

Thank you for the info thumbsupsmilie

I picked these up about 10 years ago and I think they was old stock then,do you know when it was made ???
well i was fishing wirth it in 95 and it was a few years old at that stage
'I'd say i bought it in 91 or 92 - probably mail order from Harbord (had a soft spot for catalogues even then - pre-Fleabay!) lol

I've caught the holy 3 on this lure (bream, flathead and whiting)
unfortunately depsite being "retired" it was one of my lost lures when I moved to Ireland cccc

You''ll probably cry seeing some of my Mann's stretch (5+)'s, but at the time I was given a few old dull looking ones, so I repainted em. Mind you I don't regret it as the the lizards hit em hard in murky conditions in the SE Qld estuaries.

You will notice two grey ghost patterns, the one with the orange belly along it's entire length kicked butt on the lizards, compared to the version with orange in the gill area only.

Regards

Robin
