Very Knice Vintage Knucklehead!

Post by Marrakai » Tue Nov 10, 2009 10:28 pm

Picked up this marvellous unfished vintage KnuckleHead a while back, stole it off the previous owner I reckon!

Made by Tada's Lures of Hawaii, probably in the 1950s/60s or maybe early '70s, complete with perfect vinyl upholstry-type skirt and original 2-hook rig.
I just love these things, can't believe my luck at acquiring one in virtually mint condition. Not even a scratch on the transfer-style labels! Bloody Beautiful!!

This lure will display very nicely with a vintage Wm Southam full-roller game rod and 1960s Everol 2½/0 reel I mentioned in the other thread.

I have another vintage Knucklehead but that one has been swum a lot and has no markings left. I believe it may be a Sevenstrand.

Although still quite tough and dense, the white head is also a lighter plastic than the Tada which is so hard and heavy as to give the impression of ceramic.

BTW: Just searched the patent date for the Knucklehead: November 11 1952.
