Creek Chub 'Dingbats' - Cool

Post by MXB » Sat Jul 25, 2009 6:44 am

Hi all . . . here's one of my favourites to collect

Creek Chub "Dingbats" - originally made in late 1930's till early 1950's I believe

The first one is 5200 series baby dingbat with early patented bib and glass eyes. The second is a 5100 series unmarked with patented and reinforced bib. Yopu can see the difference in the photos.

My understanding is these were made after Creek Chub "Dingers" which stopped in 1939 or thereabouts and the early ones had a small plaque on the top that said 'Dinger' or 'Dingbat'. These were stopped quickly because of corrosion of the plaque and complaints from customers!!

These guys are highly collectible and hard to find . . . a recent red/white MIB went for $US202 and the rarer models fetch up to $US500 - 600.

These ones are just the cheapies!!

Enjoy;
