SEEKERS CATALOGUE --THE TRANSITION

Post by ocd1688 » Mon Aug 20, 2012 4:13 pm

THE TRANSITION STAGE

The lures in this phase have nicely executed round eyes.
The round bibs and the mudbugs did not progress further. Neither did the dolls eyes.
The form of the modern Seekers appeared to be determined at this stage.

These Round Eyes all have metal bibs and most of them are in the 110 size. There are sample of other sizes and a few of them are detailed later.

They share with the early lures in that they all have metal bibs, no writings in the belly, no metal ware showing and they are slightly more rounded or rotund in shape compared to later samples. And they all have this little reinforcement bar under the bib between the 2 holes for the tow clip. And the serrations are also shallower.

It is hard to find these 110 in pristine conditions as most of them had been fished and battle scars are common place.

The usual patterns are the Carps, the Redfins, Yellow/Black, Red/Black and you will find them surviving into the “Commercial Phase”.

Here are a couple of true 90’s.

The little bar is present under the bibs in these 90’s too.

And the following samples are sized somewhere in between.

I would recommend reading the thread “ JIM’S SEEKERS” under the Seekers section in Victorian Lures. There are some ripper lures in the pics. One in particular shared the square mesh pattern with the “SPECIAL” and one of the Mudbugs.

That is a nice colour, maybe it was made to resemble a baby Cod?

It looks like Ken may have toyed with the idea of spraying the 'yellows' of the eyes, especially on the YB in the 1st pic, instead of dotting them in the transition period. What do you guys think?

Cheers'

I have been meaning to post this pic, but have been a bit busy.
It would be a good time to put it up, I suppose ?
Fathers day and these "Seekers" are loved by the Doctor like they're his own children.

This little cutie, I think, belongs in the transition catalogue. ??? ???

It`s a bit different. A 75mm body, plus the straight bib, says early, but the condition & the paint make it hard to look early.
