next efforts
- making a shad body of my own design for pike and sea bass - which I will call ILLIBIN smoothnoses
- replicating x-layers (I want certain custom colours that megabass don't offer) - which I will call ILLIBIN whyhens
- replicating squidgies (can't buy them here, my supplies are getting low, no-one in oz seems to post overseas, plus there are a couple of improvements and custom colours I want) which I will call ILLIBIN scrumpys

blah blah blah
well the mold for the std size whyhen is done
turned out super nice
just need some harder plastic to pour
the super soft I have already is (strangely enough) too soft

I have some large (french) x-layers and mini x-layers on the way to customise in a similar fashion
As these are super simple one sided molds I'll do a step by step with pics for all you interested parties

also did my first mold of a squidgy - 80mm wriggler
turned out really well
going to have a practice pour next week

When I do my conversion of 100mm fish to 140mm wriggler mold I'll do a step by step for that as well
as 2 sided molds are harder - but I have a trick that makes it easier (easier not easy muhmuh )

pics to follow ...

And a prize - the first person to successfully PM me what ILLIBIN stands for will get a selection of them sent to them to try out yay
(as long as you post your catches on them here on lureandmore!)

Very, very nice. bowsmilie Have thought of giving this a go myself - my favourite squidgies went off catalogue 2 releases ago (after anything in particular?)...

If they're too soft, can you adjust the amount of hardener to make them a bit stiffer?

Cheers, Steve

Steve
you can either get plastic thats soft, regular or hard
or you can buy softener or hardner to add to what you have
i'd suggest making a plain stright slug bait mold from plaster of paris first and filling it with SP you have melted for existing lures

Stay tuned to this forum as I'm going to do a series of tutorials on pouring DIY plastics as well as how to make your own one and 2 piece molds
if you're interested in DIY SPs I hope these will be of some help

if your fav has gone PM me the details and I'll see if I can make some up for you
