I got the rod for last year's trip to PNG. It's rated to 100lb braid. Pam found the reel in the US on ebay. I'm going to load it up with 80 or 120lb Platypus braid for our trip in October. There's a little river I want to fish over there and it has some huge fish in it that have so far proven unstoppable.

Go the PE 8 . . . The fish may still be unstoppable tho' but will rip your arms off until they hit the snag. Then you have to try and snap the braid!!
