Here are some USA made Reef Runner Cicada Lures, they are one of the fore runners to the current vibes. They're still being made in the states as they are a very effective little lure. The wings are dish shaped causing them to have more of a fluttering action on the drop.
The two non-packaged ones have had their rear hook changed to a treble, as the original hooks were forever flipping over the back of the wing and grabbing the main line. This being the only fault of the lure.
It would be nice to see other blade / vibe makers introduce a dished type wing.

are they made in heavy only styles or do they come in small bream style setups actually ill google them and see for myself thanks for sharing the info
Re: Reef Runner Cicada Lures
Although they don't seem like a very good cicada representation, they are great for freshwater species.
Where abouts did you pick them up?

I have one of these in particular and a handful of other brands , .......sometimes I throw them as well , but local fish don't seem to like them , never caught on these !
Some have rattles molded into the leadhead and some also have multiple attachement holes to choose from for either cast-and-retrieve action or vertical jigging action .

G'day Gidget,
I am down to my last 3, the last lot I purchased were from bargain bins at the Annual Melbourne Tackle Show and what was left at the local tackle stores, but sadly everyone is now out of stock as they are no longer the rage with all the flashy new blades appearing on the market.
They are still advertised in the USA, but I prefer to buy local, perhaps some of our members may have a few wasting away in their tackle boxes???
You can try the following USA links I suppose:

Diemai, I'm surprised that you haven't had much success with the Cicadas, as they are a killer for shut down English Perch (Redfin) in my local lakes whilst doing slow and gentle stop start jigging. Most of the time they gobble the lure up while it is pausing on the bottom.
I take it that English Perch are in your local vicinity, or maybe zander?? The zander look like a nice fish to catch.
Regards

Certainly look the goods. Hmm....

Today's the day! The sun is shining, the tank is clean and we are getting out of here!!!
Re: Reef Runner Cicada Lures
These Reddies are a very widespread species in Europe , ......not sure about the very South of the continent , but otherwise almost every water holds them from the Alpes mountains almost up to the North Cape , from Spain east to the Ural mountains of Russia , they even survive in the only little salty waters of the coastal regions of the Baltic Sea .Diemai, I'm surprised that you haven't had much success with the Cicadas, as they are a killer for shut down English Perch (Redfin) in my local lakes whilst doing slow and gentle stop start jigging. Zander are almost also as common , though stocks may vary in different kinds of swims , ......they don't like very clear water , even if stocked in there , they'd remain hard to catch , .........best are the bigger rivers with more or less murky water .
In clearer stillwaters nighttime fishing with baitfish is best , a ligt set-up is required as they are a lot more cautious there , ..... whereas the all day No.1 lures in rivers are plastics on leadheads , .......but you can also get them with crankbaits and spoons , provided that they are actively hunting and not hanging on bottom , as they most likely do , .........though I also caught a couple on these lure types SLOWLY worked along the bottom(sinking crankbaits) .
No , I really don't have much success with such blade baits frequently and also not with such rattling crankbaits like "Rattlin' Rapala" , "Manniac" or "Ratt'L'Trap" , though they seemingly do catch in native waters , but probably just not in my local swims !
What does produce well for me on both species are smaller jigging spoons(or pirks) jigged vertically from a boat(I'd sometimes use one of these rattling cranks to call the perch to come by and investigate , but then they'd most likely bite the jigging spoons worked by my wife , not the rattler itself).
But on jigging spoons cast out and jigged back in I've also never caught , .........strange but true
